Group lessons are lessons where two or more students take a lesson with a teacher at the same time. You will have to share your time with other students, but you can also get comfort and support from seeing other students make the same mistakes and struggle like you do. It can help motivate you to keep advancing in your learning journey. Since group lessons are generally cheaper than private lessons, they can also be a great option for students on a tighter budget.
On the Group Lessons page you will be able to see if there are currently any group lessons scheduled for the language you are learning. If there are none, you can contact us to let us know which language you'd like to have group lessons for. You can also contact teachers directly and let them know that you would love a group lesson.
If you've found a group lesson that interests you, you will find a button right on the page.
When you click the button, you will see the information for the lesson and you can reserve your spot.
If more than one person in your household would like to participate, simply click the button again to reserve another spot.
The teacher has the option to choose to automatically accept students into the group lesson or to confirm each participant manually. If the teacher has chosen to manually confirm, you will see the message "The teacher needs to confirm your participation" (see image). Once your participation has been confirmed by the teacher, you will receive a message informing you of this.
The teacher decides the minimum and maximum group size. You will see these displayed on the Group Lesson page (see image). If the maximum number of participants has been reached, you will no longer be able to sign up. If the minimum is not reached 24 hours before the start of the lesson, the group lesson will be automatically canceled and all participants will receive a refund in the form of PolyTripper credits. These credits can be used to book other lessons on PolyTripper.
Once you are signed up for the group lesson, the communication method for the lesson will be posted on the Group Lesson page. You will see the information appear 15 minutes before the start of the lesson, if the minimum number of participants has been reached. This information will only be visible to registered participants.
Students are expected to treat the teacher and other students with respect and not disrupt the lesson. (Full details of your responsibilities can be found in section 3 of our Terms of Service.)
After the group lesson has been completed, you will receive a message asking you to please confirm the lesson. You will be able to leave a review for the teacher. If the lesson did not take place, you can mark the lesson as "missed" and either request a refund or pay the teacher, depending on who didn't show up. This is explained in more detail in the FAQ - Lesson Confirmation.
You will be able to cancel the group lesson at any moment until 24 hours before the start of the lesson. You will receive a full refund in the form of PolyTripper credits, which you will be able to use to book other lessons on PolyTripper. Cancellations are no longer possible less than 24 hours before the start of the lesson.
